Spike Lee Should Shut His Face

So it all starts last week with Spike Lee saying Clint Eastwood didn't have any black soldiers in his two war movies, Flags of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima. The Clint shot back that Spike didn't know what he was talking about and he should "shut his face" because he wasn't about to make a movie historically inaccurate just so it could be politically correct. Clint is saying that there were no black soldiers at the raising of the flag that is central to the storyline.

Now Spike is shooting back

"First of all, the man is not my father and we're not on a plantation either.

"He's a great director. He makes his films, I make my films and a comment like 'A guy like that should shut his face' - come on Clint, come on. He sounds like an angry old man right there.

"If he wishes I could assemble African-American men who fought at Iwo Jima and I'd like him to tell these guys that what they did was insignificant and they did not exist."

Lee, who has degrees from universities in Atlanta and New York, added; "I'm not making this up, I know history. I'm a student of history and I know the history of Hollywood and its omission of the one million African-American men and women who contributed to World War II. Not everything as John Wayne, baby."

Notice the "we're not on a plantation either" comment? I love how Spike links Clint with some slave owner so casually like that. Talk about smooth. It's all just getting a bit wild, but Spike...this is Clint Eastwood man. You can't screw with Clint Eastwood because even at like 80-years-old he'd rip your spleen out with a pen.
