So last week I hit up a showcase to hear a new artist. I hadn’t heard much about her, but was digging what I did hear on MySpace. I got there and definitely got way more than I expected.
Priscilla Renea played a few songs for us (she rocked an acoustic guitar) and she immediately turned a room of press folk (who tend to be a bit jaded about new artists) into new fans. She later admitted she’d only done a handful of live performances (Including Lollapalooza), but I honestly never would have guessed as much.
She got her start on YouTube uploading clips and made her way to a label deal. Take a listen to Dollhouse and tell me you knew YouTube was hiding such quality.
If forced to relate her sound to anyone I’d say Kate Nash…but with more something I can’t put my finger on. It’s upbeat and airy with a definite message. Her voice has power and amazing tone..more than you’d expect from someone so adorable. Take a listen for yourself…I loved it enough to take some video to share.
