American Idol First American Idol Scandal of 2008: David Hernandez

David Hernandez

It seems like American Idol contestant David Hernandez is used to getting attention, male attention that is. This isn't really that big of a deal that he's into tube steak if you ask me, but it is the first Idol scandal so far of this year and I love it when that happens.

He used to do it as a male stripper in Phoenix.

According to a report by the Associated Press, David Hernandez appeared fully nude and performed lap dances for the club's "mostly male" clientele, club manager Gordy Bryan told the news wire service.

"He had the look and the type that people like, so he made pretty good money here," Bryan said.

Bryan claims Hernandez - who hails from Glendale, Arizona - worked at the strip club, Dick's Cabaret, for three years until the end of September 2007.

Rumors of a stripper past - along with photos of a scantily clad Hernandez working as a bartender at gay nightclub Burn - were first posted last week on VoteForTheWorst.com, a site that encourages "Idol" viewers to vote for "the bad and truly entertaining contestants.

You can also check out that site Vote for the Worst which has some pictures of him working at the gay nightclub Burn. Alright David, now it's time to rock out with your, errr...you get the idea.

American Idol 2008 American Idol Loses 4 More

Last night four more contestants were voted off American Idol dropping the number to 16. Next week they whittle things down to the Top 12. I really didn't have any surprises this week and nobody I voted for was cut.

2008 American Idol

Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker

2008 American Idol

Robbie Carrico and Jason Yeager

I still don't have a strong take on the girls this year. I have a few favorites with Brooke White being the top of the list so far, but I like Carly Smithson and Asia'h Epperson a lot too. With the guys, my top three are Michael Johns, David Cook, and David Archuleta. David Hernandez is also a favorite and I'm still not counting Chikezie out. He threw down this week! Who's your favorites?

American Idol 2008 American Idol First Blood

Well, the voting results for the first week were revealed and four people were cut from the Top 24 on American Idol tonight.

Joanne Borgella and Amy Davis

Colton Berry and Garrett Haley

I can't really say I liked any of them. I suppose I wouldn't have minded Joanne Borgella getting another shot, but the other three pretty much sucked. Amy Davis was more a victim of a really bad song choice though. It was like watching paint dry.

American Idol American Idol 2008 Top 24

American Idol 2008 Top 24

Tonight is the start of the 2008 American Idol season and we'll hear the top 12 men perform tonight. Tomorrow night will be the top 12 women and the Thursday will be the vote off results. After watching American Idol for at least a few seasons, I'm an expert in the process.

  • The Auditions - these are better then the show itself and hold my attention without question every time. I pick some favorites here.
  • Hollywood Week - I see how my favorites are doing and then I pick some new people who I didn't see before. Instead of taking careful notes, I refer to them by code names like in the men's group we have "girl-face," "the kid" and "emo boy."
  • Top 24 - there's still no need for me to bother remembering their names yet and frankly, that's too much energy to waste.
  • Top 12 - now I start to remember some names and possibly vote on a few people, or in the case of a couple seasons...I lose interest completely and watch other stuff.
  • Final - sometimes I come back for the final voting if I lost interest earlier. If not, then I'm already completely excited and lying to everyone around me telling them I voted for whoever is winning.

I've learned from watching American Idol that I actually have a pretty good judge of musical talent. Go figure.

American Idol Oh, Paula: Superbowl Edition

Did anyone request a new Paula Abdul song? I know I didn't. But, apparently she got the idea that we've missed her and needed a new Paula Jam for '08. She "performed" during the Superbowl (a pre-taped performance to ease her back into live performance).

The song is featured on the new album by her American Idol co-host Randy Jackson titled "Randy Jackson's Musical Club, Vol. 1." If you missed the performance check it out.

What do you think? Are we looking at a Paula Abdul Summer this year?
