Well, Ramiele Malubay was voted off American Idol last night and I can honestly say I saw this one coming. She was in the bottom three with Brooke White (who I still like a lot) and Kristy Lee Cook who probably should have gone home a few weeks ago. Kristy has to be one of the next to go I'm sure. I'm still struggling with my top picks and here they are so far (and my nicknames for them):
Michael Johns (Aussie)
David Cook (Rooster)
David Archuleta (Breather)
The list above is ordered by my personal favorites.
Chikezie was sent packing last night on American Idol and that sucks. Not that I thought he was as amazing as that David kid, but I thought he was an underdog so I liked him. of course that sneaky little Kristy Lee Cook should have been out, but like Simon said...singing "God Bless The USA" was the best song choice of all time. She had to get votes after that because if you didn't, then you're not a patriotic American. You'd be sent to Guantanamo Bay as a terrorist.
Chikezie was in the bottom three this week with dreadlock-stoner Jason Castro and Syesha Mercado. Damn I hate this show sometimes!
Thanks Jimmy for the email with the YouTube link, but I can't believe the mockery this performer makes of things. I don't know whatever backwater country this is from, but clearly they have no concept of the higher art-form that is the Idol. Then again, maybe this is the crappy auditions show, but with like 60 people sitting around clapping at his karaoke style...it didn't seem like it. I think A) that we should invade with shock and awe and 2) we should be dropping 8-track tapes of Clay Aiken over the whole country immediately.
Last night four more contestants were voted off American Idol dropping the number to 16. Next week they whittle things down to the Top 12. I really didn't have any surprises this week and nobody I voted for was cut.
Alexandrea Lushington and Alaina Whitaker
Robbie Carrico and Jason Yeager
I still don't have a strong take on the girls this year. I have a few favorites with Brooke White being the top of the list so far, but I like Carly Smithson and Asia'h Epperson a lot too. With the guys, my top three are Michael Johns, David Cook, and David Archuleta. David Hernandez is also a favorite and I'm still not counting Chikezie out. He threw down this week! Who's your favorites?
Well, the voting results for the first week were revealed and four people were cut from the Top 24 on American Idol tonight.
Joanne Borgella and Amy Davis
Colton Berry and Garrett Haley
I can't really say I liked any of them. I suppose I wouldn't have minded Joanne Borgella getting another shot, but the other three pretty much sucked. Amy Davis was more a victim of a really bad song choice though. It was like watching paint dry.
Tonight is the start of the 2008 American Idol season and we'll hear the top 12 men perform tonight. Tomorrow night will be the top 12 women and the Thursday will be the vote off results. After watching American Idol for at least a few seasons, I'm an expert in the process.
The Auditions - these are better then the show itself and hold my attention without question every time. I pick some favorites here.
Hollywood Week - I see how my favorites are doing and then I pick some new people who I didn't see before. Instead of taking careful notes, I refer to them by code names like in the men's group we have "girl-face," "the kid" and "emo boy."
Top 24 - there's still no need for me to bother remembering their names yet and frankly, that's too much energy to waste.
Top 12 - now I start to remember some names and possibly vote on a few people, or in the case of a couple seasons...I lose interest completely and watch other stuff.
Final - sometimes I come back for the final voting if I lost interest earlier. If not, then I'm already completely excited and lying to everyone around me telling them I voted for whoever is winning.
I've learned from watching American Idol that I actually have a pretty good judge of musical talent. Go figure.
