Kanye West accepted his Grammy for best Rap Album at the 2008 Grammy Awards Show by saying he had won before and he pretty much owns the place. Then he also said that only Amy Winehouse or himself should get the Album of the Year award (which went to jazz musician Herbie Hancock), but that mostly...he should get it. He also talked about how he took hip-hop cross-genre and reinvented it.
They actually started playing music during his speech and he mentioned a couple times they should stop that, especially when he was thanking his late mother Donda West. I'm just glad he won...I couldn't stand to see another year of him bitching.
As the New Year party was happening, rapper Kanye West was getting whooped by Beyoncé Knowles at the game Connect Four. He said he started playing the game on tour in Europe and just had to play her.
"I would play this game for hours and hours ... It helped me zone out," West, 30, wrote on his blog Wednesday. "But every now and then people would speak of this legendary Connect 4 champion ... BEYONCE!!!"
"I had 2 play her," he continued, noting that he finally got the chance on New Year's Eve at Jay-Z's brand new 40/40 Club in Las Vegas. "[She] beat me 9 times in a row!"
She beat him 9 times in a row? Damn! She's like a Connect Four Grand Master or something. That kind of reminds me of how my kid used to beat me at Candy Land until I took the board and threw it out the window. She's never asked me for a game of Chutes & Ladders. I wonder why?
Kanye West's mother Donda West died on Saturday in L.A. from complications resulting from a cosmetic surgical procedure. She was 58 years old.
Her publicist, Patricia Green, told BBC News she passed away "as the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure," but gave no more details. West's spokesman said the family "asks for privacy during this time of grief."
That really sucks. I goof on Kanye for whining about not winning awards, but I feel for him during this tough time. Now I wish his mom would have gotten to see him honored.
This backstage clip of Kanye West at The Wendy Williams Experience is classic. According to Kanye, he didn't do any drugs, but he "dranken a little bit." See for yourself.
After I was done bowing to his greatness, as he suggested, I realized his wisdom is amazing
"I'm the number one artist artist in the world right now. I am the number one human being in music, that means any peson that is living and breathing is number two, cause I am number one."
Isn't that incredible? I love that logic. Here's some of my own.
"If Kanye learns to appreciate all people, the all people will learn to appreciate Kanye."
Of course I didn't invent the logic and neither did Kanye. I like to refer to it around the office as a Mystery Man-ism. In fact in the movie Mystery Men, the character The Sphinx even says pretty much the same thing Kanye did:
"We are number one. All others are number two, or lower."
