Now this is pretty funny. Some chick named Masha Markova got an $11,000 mink coats a present from her grandmother and she wore it to a party at a club called 10ak that was having a private party for Stavros Niarchos. She stuck the coat in some bin with a bunch of other jackets and when she returned later at the end of the night, it was gone. Dun-dun-dun.

This case of the mysterious mink was broken wide open when Masha found pictures of the coat thief in Ok! Magazine and on various blog sites. The thief was Lindsay Lohan!

"I was actually talking on the phone to my grandmother about something else, and then I flipped through the magazine, saw the picture said, 'I need to call you back,' " Markova told The Post yesterday.

"It was my coat. It was no doubt!"

The pretty co-ed said that in the ensuing days, she surfed the Internet and found several paparazzi photos of Lohan wearing the distinctive blond coat hours after the birthday party they had both attended.

Also, celebrity blogs posted pictures of the actress party-hopping that night - wearing a black coat before she arrived at 1Oak, Markova said.

Club owners vowed to get to the bottom of it, but several days passed with no call back, Markova said.

That's when her immigration lawyer, Merrill Cohen, called Lohan's high-powered Hollywood attorney, Blair Berk, threatening litigation.

Hours later, Markova said she heard from 1Oak.

"They were very discreet, never mentioned a name or even the word 'coat,' " Markova said. "They just said, 'We're going to bring you something.' "

The coat arrived at Markova's Morningside Heights apartment two days later.

Reeking of cigarettes and booze with a slight tear in the lining, the fur coat was no worse for wear after a dry cleaning and quick patch-up.

I love the part of the story where she's missing the expensive coat that her grandmother gave her and she's on the phone with grandma right when she saw the pictures of Lindsay wearing it. That was a really nice touch to add. Who wears a mink coat worth $11,000 to some club party? Why would Lindsay just grab some one's coat and take it from a party? How did the mink coat just suddenly show up?

So many questions and no answers.

Lindsay Lohan is really trying to get her career back. She's so desperate that she's going to do television and be on ABC's Ugly Betty playing a "down-on-her-luck high school pal of Betty," according to Us Magazine.

She was so excited to shoot, a source tells Us, "Lindsay arrived on set 45 minutes early."

Adds the source, "Lindsay and America [Ferrera] really hit it off!"

Her show is going to air May 22 and supposedly she'll be in multiple episodes. I actually in a bit of shock over this because going on Ugly Betty is lower then I thought she would go. I expected her to blow some Hollywood producer or sleep with a writer or two. Maybe even put out a sex tape and parade around a beach nude, but to go on television? Her career really is crashing.

Once again people are buzzing that Lindsay Lohan is getting busy with her friend Samantha Ronson. Lindsay is always proclaiming her love for Samantha and has even created a Facebook account using the name Lindsay Ronson. The latest is that Ashley Olsen got a little too close to Samantha and Lindsay went ballistic.

The two spent the weekend partying Saturday, but Lohan didn't like all the attention Ronson was getting. "Ashley Olsen said hello to Sam at the Beatrice, and Lindsay screamed at her, 'Get your 15-year-old 'Full House' ass away from my girlfriend,' " said our spy. Saturday, Lohan said Ronson "was ignoring her" and became upset. "Samantha was really focused on her work and didn't leave the booth for anything," said our spy.

Lindsay Lohan has tried really hard to revive her career. She's posed naked, thought about doing Playboy, gone out braless, and been willing to get naked for a film role. She's trying real hard to prove she's got potential and isn't a liability. Oh wait...she just screwed that up.

Lindsay Lohan enjoyed a late night in Times Square Saturday night with her deejay pal Samantha Ronson. And a bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

The starlet - who is supposed to be in Alcoholics Anonymous - turned up around midnight to promoter Joey Morrissey's Big Saturday party at Hawaiian Tropic Zone.

At least two witnesses watched her consume vodka cocktails until she appeared to become drowsy and left at about 4 a.m.

"She was chain-smoking all night," says a spy. "Her eyes were a little glassy and she was holding her head in her hands, but she left on her own two feet."

She's only 21 and we already know she gets drunk like a pro and bangs dudes left and right. At this rate, her reputation is going downhill faster than an avalanche. She's already starting to look all bloated and freaky like Liz Taylor when she was 50. I think I'll throw her career a good-bye party soon.

Lindsay Lohan is not talking to her dad again. They had a brief rapprochement after Lohan was in rehab, but she's furious that Michael Lohan is again contacting the press to talk about her and spreading untruths.

"Lindsay was never going to do anything he said she was, like going to India," a friend told us. "He's gone crazy again."
