Oh gee, what a surprise. Just like a week ago it was announced that Ashlee Simpson is engaged to Pete Wentz and now we also find out she's pregnant.

"We are thrilled to confirm their engagement and congratulate this happy couple," a spokesperson for the couple told Us. "Beyond that there is nothing to say."

Simpson's rep had no comment.

Simpson and Wentz began dating in late 2006.

"They are ecstatic and can't wait to be man and wife," a source told Us. "They will be getting married before the end of the year."

You'd think people would wait just a little bit longer and find out how much they hate each other first before adding a baby into the mix. They should have tried getting a dog first. People are so dumb.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz are engaged if you really care about that sort of thing. She finally revealed the truth to end all the rumors.

"We know there has been a lot of speculation recently about Pete and I, and we wanted our fans to be the first to know, because you guys are the best," Simpson said in a statement posted on friendsorenemies.com. "Yes, we are thrilled to share that we are happily engaged. Thank you for all of your support and well wishes - it means the world to us. We consider this to be a very private matter, and we wanted to be the first to tell you and to hear it straight from us."
