MSNBC is reporting in their gossip section that Katie Holmes might be pushing away from Tom Cruise. These rumors have been going on for awhile now, so it makes you wonder.

The wife of the "Top Gun" star is shooting a film, "Mad Money," in Louisiana, and while she's away from her reportedly controlling spouse she's "quietly reclaiming parts of her past," according to Life & Style.

The mag reports that Holmes is reconnecting with family and friends and even secretly talking to Catholic priests. Holmes was raised a Catholic, but since her marriage, has embraced Scientology, her husband's religion.

The "Batman Returns" star recently called a childhood pal named Meghann Birie, whom she hadn't seen since meeting Cruise two years ago, reports L&S.

"She wanted to talk to someone not in Camp Cruise," a friend told the mag. "Katie told Meghann she can't believe she abandoned her old life."

The actress hasn't been to church lately, but is "secretly talking to pastors" for advice, and wants to enroll Suri in "kiddie Catholicism" classes, according to L&S.

Tom Cruise is so forward with his views about Scientology and Thetan wisdom that he's been "chosen" to be their Christ-figure to the world. I guess they decided their image isn't bad enough.

The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been "chosen" to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.

And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.

A source close to the actor, who has risen to one of the church's top levels, said: "Tom has been told he is Scientology's Christ-like figure.

"Like Christ, he's been criticised for his views. But future generations will realise he was right."

Does he have to be so pushy with it though? Just like those people that come to my house to try and convert me. I hate that. It's not like I go to their church, draw my pentagram and bleed a goat trying to convert them.

I'm actually very sick of anyone trying to push their views on others. It's so annoying when that happens. You had better agree with me too or your very soul shall be eternally tormented.

The latest news from US Magazine is that Tom Cruise has been upsetting Katie Holmes with his controlling ways.

"Katie has been crying over the phone," an insider tells Us Weekly. "She's frustrated. Tom is denying her every single thing."

The insider adds: "Once, Katie and Victoria talked on the phone for four hours."

He also is very pushy according to the rumors, about having certain people join the Scientology ranks.

And Beckham has seen how domineering Cruise can be firsthand. A source close to the 44-year-old actor tells Us that he is relentlessly trying to convince the ex-Spice Girl, 32, and her husband, soccer star David Beckham, 31 (who are moving to L.A. this year), to convert to his religion.

"Victoria is sick and tired of Tom being on her back about Scientology," says the source. "Victoria is an old-fashioned British woman who believes in God. She finds it quite rude that Tom is bugging her so much. Not too long ago, Tom left 18 messages in one hour to get them to join the church."

The source adds Victoria has put her foot down to Tom's pressure. "When she says no, she means no."

I really don't know why people are suprised by this. You don't get to be like a 30th level Thetan with out being pushy and controlling. It also helps if you have some 20-sided dice, or so I've heard.

The battle lines for the fate of the Earth is on. Ok, not quite, but the HollyWar is on after Paramount Studios "fired" Tom Cruise according to the news I saw on television last night. Tom is represented by the CAA (Creative Artists Association) which is very powerful in the Land of Siliconia. To make a movie, it's almost impossible without the CAA. If the CAA "blacklists" a studio...it makes life very difficult.

Paramount Studios has now insulted one of their biggest clients. Richard Lovett, the president of CAA, said yesterday:

"Paramount has no credibility right now. It is not clear who is running the studio and who is making the decisions."

It's rumored that Tom will sue Paramount Studios if fallout over projects currently in development by Cruise/Wagner Productions at Paramount has problems. Cruise's lawyer Bert Fields ( a guy that has never lost a case) said:

"Sumner Redstone has lost it completely, or he's been given breathtakingly bad advice. That a mogul like Sumner Redstone could make a statement so vicious, so pompous, so petulant as that he didn't want to make a deal with Tom Cruise because of his personal conduct - it tells you more about Sumner Redstone and Viacom, than about Tom Cruise."

Sounds like the dust is not settled yet. I also saw interviews with various big-name actors and directors such as Rob Reiner who are firmly in the Cruise Camp. You go Tom!

Suprise news announced. Tom Cruise gets his walking papers from Paramount Pictures today. It seems his couch jumping and semi-religious preaching have upset too many people. According to Sumner Redstone, Chairman of Viacom

"Recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

It's also been said though that Tom actually quit rather than being shown the door. Now, I like Tom, I really do. Most of the negative comments I have heard come from women (just a personal observation) due to the comments he made regarding Brooke Shields and the postpartum depression she suffered with the birth of her first child.

I think many people give him too much credit in some ways. Sure he is a Scientologist and was speaking out about the practices that make him or other Scientologists successful. It's not much different then the hundreds of people that accept awards and thank God or talk about how by accepting Jesus Christ, their life is better in some way.

To each his own. Tom can believe what he wants and talk about what he wants. I still enjoy his movies.
